For a long time this association functioned as a shelter for a few unwanted dogs and cats. Until 1989, the shelter, which is situated next to the municipal dog pound, had limited activities of maintaining these animals and taking care of their medical needs....

PRESENT SCENARIO Today AIAWA is well set in the scenario of the ABC scheme. The association can sterilize up to 200 dogs during a month. Cat sterilizations are also conducted side by side and picking up with every passing year. Though there is no proper shelter for cats, small niches in stone are put up on the outer wall, which serves as independent homes for cats visiting us from adjoining slums.
